Monte Waterfield

Monte Waterfield is a Winter Park native now residing in Daytona Beach Shores. I left the area for many years, during which time I raised four wonderful daughters and worked as an educator. Upon retirement, I returned to my first loves: Florida and art.

Primarily a self-taught artist, learning through trial and error while working with all types of media. I have studied art my entire life and enjoy visiting museums with works by my favorite artists: John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, and Claude Monet.

I work primarily in watercolor, specifically watercolor batik on rice paper. I enjoy bringing nature to art, as you can see by the array of ocean influences in my work. I also work as a potter, which continuously challenges my creativity.

Only recently, after life gave me a few tumbles, I embraced my worth as an artist. After strong encouragement from my family, I have the spirit to share my art. 

I believe art speaks to you; you just need to be quiet to hear it.
